Just in time for Valentine’s Day, our Fresh Cut Flowers and Locally Grown Orchids are this week’s Fresh Pick of the Week from the Certified Farmers’ Market. Each week, Juan Arriaga, of Arriaga Farms, brings in a fresh batch of California-grown cut flowers – direct from his family farm. Certified Farmers’ Market customers can choose from bouquets of sunflowers, lilies, mixed flowers, and more.
Want another idea? Orchids also make a great gift idea for Valentine’s Day, and you’ll find some beautiful Orchids at the Palm Springs and Palm Desert Market locations, courtesy of Richard Shin. Every week, Richard brings a luscious collection of locally grown Orchids (and succulents) from his Award-Winning Nursery in Orange County, including several varieties of hybrids (some quite fragrant) that you won’t find anywhere else.
Did you know: The Orchid family is the largest family of the flowering plants in the world. There are more than 22,000 accepted species, and there may be as many as 25,000 (because of taxonomic disputes). But even 25,000 is dwarfed when one takes into account the astounding number of hybrid orchids – over 100,000!
Price: $5 to $45
Also in Season: Potatoes, Celery, Green Onions, FRESH and DRIED Herbs, Eggs, Dates, Almonds, Oranges, Grapefruit, Chard, Eggplant, Squash, Onions, Garlic, Apples, Shallots, Beets, Green Beans, Carrots, Tomatoes, Green Tomatoes, Peppers, Lettuces, Parsley, Mint, Broccoli, Cabbage, Spinach, Radishes, Leeks, Brussels Sprouts, Asparagus, Cherimoyas, Dates . . . .
