Fresh-made Certified Organic Guacamole is this week’s Fresh Pick of the Week from the Coachella Valley Summer Certified Farmers’ Market. Guacamole has long been a staple of California cuisine, but it’s rare to find locally-made farm-fresh Guacamole that is Certified Organic, and made from all locally-grown certified organic ingredients! Pedro’s Avocado Ranch (www.pedrosavocadoranch.com) from Fallbrook, California grows all the Hass Avocados, limes and lemons used in their Certified Organic Guacamole, and sources all the other ingredients from other Certified Organic farmers, most of whom are also at the market. In fact, the only ingredient not grown on a farm is the touch of sea salt used to enhance the natural flavor of the guacamole.
Did You Know: Guacamole was originally an Aztec dish (made by the Aztecs as early as the 16th century), but quickly became a popular part of both modern Mexican and Americna cuisines. The word Guacamole itself comes from two Aztec words which translate literally as “avocado sauce.”
