Spinach is believed to have originated in Ancient Persia (now Iran). The Persians introduced it to both India and China (where it was known as the “Persian Vegetable.” Descendants of the Persians (the Saracens) also introduced Spinach into the Greater Mediterranean region, where it became quite popular.
