Summer Certified Farmers Market
To Host Kid’s Activities at the Market
On Saturday, July 28, 2012

Storytime, Children’s Dance Performances, HBO Film Screening Among The List of Activities.

The focus is on children, and on preventing childhood obesity at the Summer Certified Farmers’ Market this weekend. Bring the kids to see dance performances from the Dance with Miss Lindsay Dance School, then meet Local Children’s Book Author, Alexa Palmer.  Palmer will be reading from her book, Jolene: Adventures of a Junk Food Queen, and sharing healthy food choice ideas with kids. Palmer’s book, which shows kids how one young girl goes from being a Junk Food Queen to a health-conscious youth, has met with rave reviews among parents and educators alike, and is available on amazon.com.

But Wait! There’s More!

Kids who visit the Farmers’ Market this weekend will receive FREE tokens they can use to purchase items at the market. It’s a fun and fantastic way to teach children about healthy eating habits while letting them experience the fun of shopping at the local Farmers’ Market. And for fans of the award-winning HBO series, The Weight of the Nation, don’t forget to join us for the last installment in the series, Challenges, which examines the origins and severity of the obesity epidemic in America, and looks at opportunities for local communities to fight back.. The show starts at 9am, so don’t miss it!
